I don’t believe in sticking to a genre or time period. The best homes are those filled with the pieces you love.
Hello, I’m Rachel Thomas, an interior designer based in East Sussex. As a curator of the unorthodox, unexpected and creative, it fits that my route into the world of interior design was less than ordinary. My education began with four wonderful but testing years at the University of Oxford studying chemistry, leading eventually to a career in finance. While crunching numbers and managing clients investments led me to my now-husband, it was my enduring love for interiors, art and avant-garde fashion which put me on the path of interior design.
I believe in, “Embracing the uniquely wonderful – and sometimes weird.”
Character properties and the history of items give me joy. I believe in sustainable living, working to a budget and creating spaces alive with drama and substance. I’m not led by trends – I want to walk into a room and feel that magic alchemy of history, life and identity; layered together through an eclectic combination of textures, era and furniture.
A room must be composed of several focal points. I don’t believe in sticking to a genre or time period. The best homes are those filled with the pieces you love, whether that is a piece of art or an old piece of furniture thats been past down to you, a room should be cultivated from those pieces that hold a relationship with you. Your decor and furniture will then grow with you and your loved ones, making each room timeless.
Above all, I believe that it’s so very important that a space reflects the person who lives within its walls, harnessing a personal connection and weaving your story into the design. Through this you create a home which is packed with emotion, effortlessly captivates and inspires around every corner. A home that you love!
